GO BRUINS!!

In 12 hours I will be in Portland sitting in the gym at Cascade College....ready to cheer on my good ole friends from Bethany University!!(This picture is from two years ago at a BU Homecoming!)
It sounds like the silliest thing, but I can't even wait!!
1) Because I love watching Basketball
2) Because I most love watching BU Basketball!
3) I get to see my best friend who is recently engaged!
4) Because I am roadtripping down with FRIENDS (I need to be around people more!)
This is the 2007-08 picture for the BU Men's Basketball team. I know you can't even make out a face, but the point is I wanted to post a picture AND my camera/computer are both down!!

Hopeless Romantic...

“But it was just my imagination
running away with me.
It was just my imagination
running away with me...”
~
Oh, the Temptations said it best, right?
~
Haha! Do you ever have those times in your life when you want to be so in love? AND, want someone to love you back?
~
My mind is on this constant path towards a man in my life! My heart goes pitter-patter, my breath is short, and I can’t stop thinking about that perfect moment in time where “it” happens! (I haven’t figured out if that “it” is meeting him, marrying him, or just being with him!)
I feel like I am finally at a time in my life when my heart is ready to be pursued. It is healed, confident, and happy! I am waiting for my Prince to go to battle for me - to buck up to his own feelings and emotions, and truly hear the voice of God saying "Captivate her".
~
What an exciting time this is going to be!!! Haha, I'm just hoping it happens within the next few years! =) Is that awful to think? I have decided "No". Every young girl should be preparing her heart for those precious moments, but guarding it at the same time! I'm just ready for someone - I no longer want to be "girly" over these crushypoos. I want the real thing!
~
Okay, I've put my lovey-thoughts on the line - so be it, right? =) God made me a girl with a sensitive and precious heart - He made all us ladies that way!
AND more than anything, I've learned:
It is completely "ok" to be girly!

Beans vs. Stones

Kidney Beans vs. Kidney Stones
What's the difference? A LOT OF PAIN!

Yesterday I spent my day at the Doctor's getting poked, prodded, x-rayed and CT scanned! Come to find out, I have kidney stones!

Today I am off to a specialist to check out just what kind....!

OH! What a Saturday!

Today was the first day I have had free in forever...or at least it feels that day. All week long I was looking forward to this day to get many things accomplished: laundry, homework, clean the apartment, clean my room, clean my car, and relax. Check. Kinda Check. Check. Check. Check. No check. But all in all, today was a fun day.

It was a beautiful day so I decided to get up and take a nice lil walk to SU and work on some homework. I did some research, made some copies, bought a book and then was on my way home. Randomly, Litney was on her way home too so swung by to pick me up. Once we got home we clean, organized, and got all of our laundry ready to go to a laundromat (Yes, we have washer/dryer facilities in our apartment but figured we'd just go out and do it to 1) get it all done quickly 2) to get out of the house 3) to do homework.).

From here, the day got crazy. First, we realized we forgot all our quarters when we were on the way to the Laundromat. Then, once we got there, we realized we had forgotten our detergent and dryer sheets. So, once we turned around to come back home we thought "Why don't we just go back and go to Safeway to get what we need." Yes, good idea! Well, once in Safeway it took us about 15 minutes to pick out the perfect smelling detergent - what a wreck. Okay, so we finally get to the Laundromat and we have absolutely NO idea what we are doing, not to mention it was a busy, nasty place. We kinda got direction from a few others as well as the owner - man, we stuck out like a sore thumb. The best (and weirdest) part about it, every time we went to change our clothes or do something, the owner was right on our back just staring at us. Litney and I couldn't help but just laugh!!

Um.............. so I guess this was a "had to be there" type of experience. =)

Goal: Close the generation gap!

Monty Hipp gave a "self-prodding" message in chapel today with the topic of "Old People". What do you think about when you think of "old people?" I think of beauty, wisdom, good stories, grandparents, and adorable people - it almost brings tears to my eyes! The purpose of his message was to talk about closing the generational gap. We need to be able to connect with these men and women who have walked the road before us. THEY are in need of US and WE are in need of THEM. Monty gave the analogy of a batton race. They are going to be passing the batton to us once they push us to pick our speed and we are ready to take it.

It was a message I was encouraged by. He also talked about being friends with men and women from different generations. Instead of having them pray over you - let them pray WITH you. What a great concept! I want to learn how to learn from mighty men and women of God who have lived life! I want to collaborate my youthfulness with their elderness to create relationships that go unmatched.

This talk reminded me of this picture that always needs a second look. What do you see?

The little things...

As I was walking back from lunch the other day at Northwest I saw this creature up the road and thought nothing of it. THEN, I realized it was a raccoon. Kinda random, right? Well, this morning I saw the lil fella again (Assuming its the same one because how many raccoons could there be on campus!! =)). He was just hanging out outside my office window then ran across the tennis courts. A student was walking by and did like a "take two"...it was hilarious!

(This is obviously not a picture of the NU lil fella, but isn't he cute? Gosh, if I liked animlas and wanted to have a pet, I would almost think of a raccoon!)

It's the little things that can bring a smile to someones face and this little random occurence made my day (so far!).

I have two main goals in life. - Joe Smith

Okay okay okay, so I have been posting a lot lately, but I'm just making up for lack of posting previously! :)

Today has been a good day for the most part: I went to an always amazing chapel and I sat at lunch with a new friend, Joe Smith (how orignal, I know!). Joe is a student at Northwest U - but not just any student. He is a twenty three year old, second semester freshmen who is just starting his Nursing Degree. In prior years he had had his own business, apartment, etc, but something was missing: enjoyment! So Joe decided to come to Northwest in order to get a good education and do something he would enjoy in life. The reason for this? Well, Joe has two main life goals: To be the best husband and to become the greatest father. (Wow!) Though Joe seems like a pretty humorous and unserious person, he really said something profound here! He truly meant what he said when he wanted to be equipped to provide, to enjoy life, and to give all he could give to his future family! He wants to be the best man of God he can be - all around!

After hearing him and thinking about what he said, I hope and pray that all men begin to think like this, by having two main goals! I know that I want my future husband to have these qualities, visions and passions to be a man of God who is the best husband and best father. Wow!
Good job, Joe, and good luck!
:)

If you're a "visual" friend!

So, like I said before...pictures were coming soon! Haha, these aren't all of them because my computer is still down, but this gives some visual insight to my new "Seattle-grad-student-fulltime-worker-quiet" type of life! However, all of these pictures are quite opposite of that! These pictures are from the FUN FUN FUN times I had previous to a full time job and 3 hour class 3 nights a week! =)

Brandon and I went to the Seahawks vs. Raiders game - it was a blast!
A few weeks later we went to the WSU game at Qwest Field where we got free tickets to go see Jeff Bowen - our home town super star!

My friend Chris Norman and I headed down to Portland to go watch Bethany University play volleyball. We FINALLY found the Jamba Juice for Chris.
My two new friends: Casey(M) and Amy(L). They went to school at APU and actually were neighbors with one of my friends' brothers! Casey and I go to SU together and are so similar its scary! She's an amazing woman of God and one great friend! We have been trying and trying to do "Breakfast Sunday" but it hasn't quite worked out as well as we thought. However, Casey and I still came together last week and I had my first baking experience: Banana Bread. We truly did not think it would come out correctly, BUT it ended up being delicious! Litney and I were so excited: Jessie Mansell was able to come up and spend a few days with us! What a fun girl!

I just realized I was eating ice cream in a lot of those pics! :) Tony came over the other night and made us Spaghetti.

These are just some of my pictures! California Trip pictures still to come!!!

A little chuckle for the day! :)

So, work has been going well so far. I enjoy my boss (Teresa), the SPU interns I work with, the students, and the other fac/staff! However, this quiet environment is not easy for me. I am a loud person, for the most part. I like action, normal voice level conversations, music, and laughing. Well, none of these truly happen in this small quiet office. AND, I am working with people who are counselors so they have that soft, sweet, kind voice - SPEAK UP, darn it! Ha!

Anyways, I have been working on small projects and one includes creating advertising posters for Pre-Marital Counseling. As I was searching Google Images for older couples, I found this picture and it just made me laugh:

(You can't really tell with such a small picture - but they are just grumpy and angry looking!)
Now, what a happey couple!
Don't we all aspire to grow old with our mate and end up like this? :)

They're Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

(Disclaimer: I am not obsessed with the Spice Girls, nor do I pay attention to what is going on with them. However, I heard about their Big Return on the radio lastnight and thought I would recall some memories!)

Oh the dreams of little girls!
~
The Spice Girls have an everlasting impact in my life. They are a group who made for some of my best childhood memories!
~
Six of us made a five girl singing group who spent countless hours choreographing, dancing and singing to "Wannabe". I sit here and laugh as a think about all our community performances, costumes, fun times, talent shows, and randomness that came from this time in our lives.
~
Ladies, I miss you and I hope that in the near future we can make our big comeback too!! :)
