Coach Leifer

so, i took on the role of cheerleading coach about three weeks ago. of course, i love it! my heart has always been drawn to cheerleading. like most know, while in college i coached a high school team as well as my college team. after stopping that my junior year, i never thought i would get into it again - except for the random times helping out at my old high school.



however, the opportunity arose...AGAIN! tonight we had practice and we are working on partner stunts. well, in my experience we never did a lot of stunting - especially partner stunting. so, i am learning as we go - (my most common motto is "fake it until you make it" and i live by that!). well.......tonight the girls thought it would be a great idea for me to be the flyer - they continued to harrass me until i finally gave in, mostly so they would shush. one thing they are forgetting is that i am probably at least 20 pounds heavier than them, so out of shape and sick right now! but, i did a little practice and it was somewhat fun - but don't tell them! :)

Sick and Tired

i am SO sick and tired of being sick and tired.
my body aches. my nose is stuffed. and my head feels like it weighs a ton.
okay, so its only been a few days but goodness gracious it feels like its been weeks.
i feel like i put in at least 80 hours this week wih ra interviews, book group, ladies work out night, cheerleading and everything else that was added to my plate!
i love my job and i promise to smile each day i am blessed with this position, but Lord help me sleep and get rest.

I pulled the "RD" card!

As I was pulling into my parking spot tonight I noticed there was a couple standing and embracing right next to the door I would have to walk in. "Oh gosh" I thought to myself. Walking past couples can always be sort of an awkward thing and especially as an RD - I never want them to feel awkward or that they are doing something wrong (unless they are, of course!). But, I gathered my courage and bit the bullet. As I walked up I just said "RD coming through", what I got in return was "See, she's the coolest RD ever!!" Right on! Apparently I just need to get in good with the couples to get the brownie points :)

My apologies

Hello my gracious blog readers,

I want to apologize for keeping you out of the loop for so long. I have been absolutely so BUSY that I have failed to uphold my last promise of more updates. Well, here is the first of many...hopefully!

Allow me to catch you up on what's happening in Larissa's life through a few bullet points that capture the last few months:

• LOVE LOVE LOVE my job - couldn't ask for a better one.
• New friends whom I absolutely adore - thank you girls!
• Went home for Christmas, spent wonderful time with my family, caught up on sleep, took an afternoon to help out the cheer squad at my old high school, dined at Eddy's with my precious friend Melody, and my sister got ENGAGED!!
• Found out some of my best friends here are moving to Bend, OR in May - I keep giving them the pouty face as if that will help!
• Went to a Student Leadership Conference and renewed my love for leadership, reflection, and proactive conversations.
• Started reading the Chronilogical Bible and LOVE it!
• Continue to invest in the lives as well as learn from my Veda ladies!
