This is what I call a good day...

Cuddled up in my favorite down blanket, a cup of hot peppermint tea and watching an old favorite movie - The Titanic. Northwest U school and work were canceled today due to the weather; however, most of the snow is already gone. I still have class tonight at SU but in the mean time I am just relaxing and enjoying my day off.

I remember the first time I saw the Titanic. I believe it was for Elaine Richards Birthday. The group of us girls (I'm sure it was Mel, Leigh, Kayla, Amy, Elaine and I) went and sat in the front row of, what I remember, the largest theater screen ever! Fun times and fun memories! I sure wish these girls were all here now with me, cuddled up on my couch, drinking tea and enjoying each others company.

TGIF

Really, Thank you Jesus that it is Friday - and a beautiful one at that!! Wow, this week has been absolutely gorgeous in Seattle. I know, it doesn't make any sense!! But the sun has been shining and the beautiful moon has been showing its pretty self during the mornings as I drive to work. I love that scene: on one side of you is the amazing sunrise and on the other is the picturesque moon in the blue sky! Wow, I just love that.

I wish I had more to say or pictures to show, but....well, I guess I just need to get out a bit more!

27 Dresses

27 Dresses is a must see movie for any girl!! It is chicky, it is flicky, and it is amazing! Litney and I could not start cracking up!! We loved it and would recommend the romantic comedy to ANYONE!! Katherine Heigl is absolutely fabulous!

Really, you should go see it!

Bonding at it's best

Finally, the fantastic four was able to hang out outside of class!! Yesterday the girls and I went wine tasting, along with other people. We had an absolutely blast. However, I found out that wine makes me have ugly faces! Ha - I hate it!!! Give me bonding, give me dinner, give me games and give me friends - that's all I need to have fun!!
~
These girls are great and I can't wait to continue to get to know them over the next two years!

I can fake, right?

So I just started this new Independent Study Class that is focused around co-advising the Northwest University ASB. I think it is going to be super fun. However, the big project is.....drum roll please...........Revising the Constitution!! Ha, if you know anything about me, you know that this is hilarious in all aspects! We rewrote Bethany University's Student Government Constitution last year, and when I say "we", I mean I was in the room when "they" were writing it! I am more of a cheerleader - a motivator, inspiration giver, encourager, etc!
~
BUT....I have such a good feeling about this and I know it is going to turn out amazing. I realized that I learn more by teaching. So, we'll see what happens.

All of this to say: please keep me in your prayers! =)

Postcard Inspiration

I was inspired by a mass mailed postcard that I received yesterday at work. It reads:

Greetings!
As you head into "Being Greater than Great in 2008!" here are some energizers to further YOUR greatness:
Create a HUGE vision for YOUR future
Surround yourself with positive people who will help get YOU there
Check your balance regularly: mind, body, and soul
Always find time to play and have fun (that IS what IT is all about!!))
Go to www.kendonaldson.com to stay present with new and exciting personal and professional growth programs
Start and end every day with "Thank You"..live in the "Attitude of Gratitude"
Peace and Prosperity...
Ken
YOUR life and relationship success coach

Haha, so all in all it was advertising for this Ken Donaldson, BUT I appreciated that hidden resolutions that it speaks of: vision, positive people, fun, and appreciation! I think that too often we set these tangible goals for the New Years and get disappointed when we don't reach them - whether because they are set too high or we are lazy about it! I have also heard much talk about setting FAITH GOALS as opposed to New Year's resolutions - I think I like that. Look forward to a list of those in a few posts (I want to create a list that is reachable and yet challenging!).

No-Sweet January

Litney and I decided way back in November to have a "No-Sweet" January - with the exception of "sucky things" (I don't like to call them sucky candies because then it sounds more like cheating) and drinks we don't feel absolutely convicted about (I have had a few sips of pop - which I usually NEVER drink - and a chai tea latte). I would like to say I am winning because Litney had a Pez the other day!
~
Anyways, the first few days were a fly by; however, we're getting to the 10th day and I am absolutely starving for some sweets!! Don't you hate that when all you want to eat/drink is something that you can't!! All I feel like is a venti caramel machiatto (sp) with extra extra caramel - not my normal drink of choice. But I dream about that extra caramel and just start to drool, practically!

So, the countdown has begun and only three weeks left, to the day!

Change is in the air

Today I gave in and began researching the 2008 Presidential Candidates. Many things have prompted this sudden burst of wanting to be more informed.
1. First, I am an American and should care about what is going on in the leadership of this country.
2. Second, I was reading over my syllabus for my Leadership in Education course and found we were going to be doing a project on these candidates - I figured I should probably know whats going on and who thinks what.
3. And last, I have come to understand that this is a HUGE election year - one that will mark its place in history. Possible candidates are a woman, a black man, an Italian, and even a pastor!
4. And of the real last reason: In March of last year I was sent on a trip back to DC and was able to see both Hillary and Barack campaign at the AIPAC conference. As you can see, I was pretty close - what a fun experience. However, I don't feel as if I would vote for either of them.

Someone said I had the "Hillary look" (whatever that means)!

Ringin' in 2008!

Happy 21 to my wonderful, beautiful, fabulous, amazing, cherished sister!
She, I and four of her close friends had a scrumptious meal at the downtown Seattle
Cheesecake Factory (yum!).
We officially rang in 2008 at our apartment with fun games and great times!
Below is a picture of Litney and her best friend after opening her gifts. (It is my opinion that they are going to get married, but who listens to a sister!).

Winter Wonderland

Litney and I went home for Christmas and it was absolutely wonderful! On the last day we finally allowed mom to take pictures of us in our hats and scarfs that Grandma gave us!! It was a gorgeous day!

We weren't aware she was going to get the WHOLE body - haha. We were in sweats for the ride home.
