The "real professional" world

Since I can remember, I have always heard "This or That will look great on your resume!" I would like to think that I have had great experiences, worth-while jobs and grown a lot in order to be ready for the "real professional" world. But this is what I learned: the experiences you have had don't matter to a lot of people. For example, I am so blessed to have served as BUSG President, but who outside Bethany and my parents care?
-
How do you make yourself stand out among all other applicants? A resume is a one sheet of paper that is suppose to summarize your life, who you are, and what you have to offer? That's insane!
-
One thing I have realized about the "real professional" world is that it isn't so professional at all. People don't do what the say they are going to do when they say they're going to do it. People don't get back to you - whether on phone or email. It is unpersonable and seems to have a "higher than thou" personality.
-
I can't wait to be tucked away in a small Christian university where I can know people, make a difference, and be touched by the lives around me. I can't wait to feel that love of community again and to know that people do genuinely care. I just have to get through the next few years first! =)

(This is my idea of a "real professional" world!)
